About this event
You Are Invited to a Walking Tour of Memorable Downtown Madison Moments at 10:00 AM on July 29th. Starting in front of 12 School Street, the yellow Madison Town Information Center.
Enjoy a guided walking tour of historic downtown Madison that will transform your perception of its seemingly quiet streets and buildings. From the sidewalk, discover where Daniel Hand, a devoted abolitionist and philanthropist, once trod. Pause outside the house where the preacher, Yale’s first graduate, freed his enslaved servants. Glimpse homes rumored to be haunted and hear the chilling tales behind their facades. Stand above the basement where the city’s sensational “trial of the century” took place. Along the way, your guide will share stories of triumph and tragedy, revealing the most memorable Madison moments that are often hidden in plain sight. Questions? Text George at 203-747-5939 or email info@ShorelineVillageCT.org. In case of rain, the walk cancellation will be posted by 8:30 AM on the Shoreline Village website next to the event.
